The Family Preservation Program provides intensive, in-home services for families with a child or children between the ages of 0 and 12 who is at risk of out of home placement. Families are seen daily for the first 14 days of the program of the eight week program. On call staff and supervision is provided 24 hours a day for program families. Services include both “hard” and “soft” services to stabilize the family, and reduce the risk of out-of-home placement of the child or children Hard services include home safety equipment, basic needs such as clothing, and baby supplies as well as transportation to medical and other community appointments. Soft services include assessment of mental health and substance use issues, parenting skills training, stress management, and the use of Responsive Special Play. Recommendations and linkages for ongoing services following the program occur as needs are identified.
Families must be referred to a Dane County Human Services social worker.
