About the Conditional Release Program

Persons found Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Disease or Defect (NGI) can be placed in the community by the courts. The Conditional Release (CR) Program in the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is responsible for providing treatment and supervision to these individuals so they can live safely and productively in the community. Our CR Case Managers are responsible for community-based case management services grounded in the dual philosophies of best practice recovery methods and community safety.

What You Can Expect

The Conditional Release team provides the clinical support, care and monitoring to assist consumers in maintaining safety and stability in the community.  The case managers work closely with the Community Corrections Conditional Release Agent to help the consumer meet their legal requirements for release.
