I hold a master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Work. I have extensive experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment and education.
Previously, I served as a therapist for the OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) Treatment Court in Janesville, supporting individuals as they navigate recovery within the criminal justice system. Additionally, I was the Human Services Program Director for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Division of Continuing Studies, where I taught numerous courses and presented widely across Wisconsin on substance use topics. I also worked at Rogers Memorial Hospital specializing in substance use disorder treatment as a counselor for the AODA Intensive Outpatient Program.
I’m actively involved in the recovery community, serving on advisory councils including Wisconsin Voices for Recovery and the State Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse’s Intervention and Treatment Committee.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, writing, and spending time with friends and family. I share my home with a playful Whoodle dog and a cat who keep life interesting. I love being outdoors - whether it’s walking, exploring nature, hunting for unique rocks, or browsing antique stores. I also volunteer, find creative outlets through art (even if I’m not very skilled), and enjoy lifelong learning by taking classes just for the joy of it. Surprisingly, I find cleaning relaxing, as it gives me a sense of calm and accomplishment. Above all, I love to laugh and have fun.
