Clinica Latina - Culturally Specific Behavioral Health Services in Madison, WI

At Journey Mental Health Center, we believe that culturally specific care is essential to healing. Behavioral health support is most effective when it reflects a person’s lived experiences, language, values, and cultural identity. Our Clinica Latina program provides a safe space for Spanish speaking consumers to express themselves without needing to explain or translate parts of who they are. Whether someone is facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance use issues, we approach care through a lens of cultural understanding and deep respect.

We recognize that members of the Latinx community may experience unique barriers to care - such as stigma around mental health, immigration-related stress, intergenerational trauma, or distrust in systems. Clinica Latina was created to help bridge that gap. We work to build trust, reduce stigma, and empower individuals and families with tools to heal, grow, and thrive.

Our Services:

Our Clinica Latina Spanish-Language Behavioral Health Services include:

  • Individual Mental Health Assessment and Referral: Individual mental health assessments in Spanish to understand an individual’s needs and connect them with appropriate care.
  • Individual Mental Health Therapy: One-on-one counseling in Spanish supports emotional well-being and helps manage conditions like anxiety, depression, or trauma.
  • Substance Use Assessment and Referral: Comprehensive evaluations in Spanish to determine the best treatment option and connect individuals with needed services.
  • Intoxicated Driver Program Individual and Group Counseling: Individual and group counseling options built to satisfy requirements for individuals who have a counseling requirement on their Wisconsin Driver's Safety Plan after getting an OWI.
  • Substance Use Counseling: Personalized, Spanish-language counseling helps individuals address substance use and build healthier coping strategies.
  • Group Counseling: Therapeutic groups conducted in Spanish provide peer support and skill-building in a safe, culturally aware setting.
  • Case Management: Our Spanish-speaking case managers help individuals navigate the mental health system, connect with resources, and coordinate care across providers to ensure consistent, holistic support.
  • Prescriber Services: Spanish-language psychiatric services are available for evaluations and medication management when needed.
"El Programa me ha ayudado en muchas conocimientos y cosas se me a despejado n poco la mente porque antes no tenia quien me diera un consejo. Me consentia una persona sola sin ayuda y me sentia estresado... Estoy agradecido con el pr programa y mi promotora que me a sabido ayudar psicologicamente."
"During the program, I gained a lot of knowledge, and my mind has been cleared a little because I did not have anyone to ask for help before. As I felt lonely and stressed, I am grateful to the program and my counselor for knowing how to help me psychologically."
