Description

This two-part training helps clinicians strengthen their skills in ethical decision-making using the C.O.R.E. model. Part I focuses on foundational principles, including informed consent, confidentiality, and establishing strong professional boundaries. Part II explores dual relationships, navigating competence, assessing professional responsibilities, and making confident decisions around termination and scope of care. Each session is designed to make ethics clearer, more accessible, and grounded in real clinical practice.

Training Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

– Evaluate their own competence limitations and risk mitigation strategies
– Examine ethical dilemmas common in community mental health settings, including dual relationships and conflicts of interest
– Apply ethical concerns through the Ethical C.O.R.E. model

Presenter

Will Hutter, PsyD, LMFT, NDCCDP, is adjunct faculty at Northwestern University, where he teaches courses such as Power, Privilege, and Difference; Family of Origin; Basic Concepts in Family Therapy; Family Therapy with Children and Adolescents; Group Therapy; Internship and Pre-practicum; and Systemic Perspectives in Substance Use Disorder.

Dr. Hutter owns FourRivers, a private practice providing virtual therapy to LGBTQ+ youth and adults, individuals experiencing sexual dysfunction, and conflictual queer couples across WI, IL, SC, and ME. He also offers professional consultation, clinical supervision, and specialized workshops/trainings.
